    Hi all,

I have to create a shared list of contacts where everyone in our small
business can add/edit contacts. I have a Domino R6 on a Linux machine while
Notes 6 clients are installed on Windows XP/2K machines.

I saw I had to create a public address book on the server but when I do this
using Domino Administrator (I have to show advanced templates) I am prompted
with an error message that says I'm "not authorized to perform that
operation". If I select anything else I get no error.

Can anyone tell me what's going wrong? Or optionally tell me how to do this?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. You can create other databases on the same server using different
templates, but you cannot create a new database using the Domino
    Directory template?

If you can create a database on the server you should have sufficient
    rights to create ANY database.

What are your access rights to the Domino Directory template
(pubnames.ntf)? Can you open it manually on the server? You may not
have sufficient rights to the template.

    Thanks a lot, Matthew.

I saw there was (why?) a menu item that is "Full administrative rights". I
checked it and now I could create databases in Domino main folder. I didn't
check access on the Linux server, which hosts the Domino server (I don't
know Linux but don't shout at me please ;-).

However I couldn't get to creating a shared address book that anyone could
see and add contacts in. I could create a public address book (actually a
Domino Directory). It's close to what I want to accomplish as it supports
Distribution Lists - i.e. I have to create "Contact Groups" that contain
    contact addresses without requiring contacts to be copied or moved;
    distribution lists do that.

But I couldn't have the new Domino Directory appear in users' Notes client.
    Do you have any advice?
