    Hi all,

First of all, I want to stress the fact that I know nearly NOTHING
about Lotus Notes. Since, the Notes administrator is sick and so is his
backup, I am the one in charge to deal with the following issue :

    Situation : Notes 5.0.10 (Windows 2000 Server).
Problem : "the object store that is used by this note was not found or
    is not a Notes database : mail.box"

I made many searches on this newsgroup and on ibm.com and I found that
my problem might be linked to a 'shared_mail' misconfiguration.

    In the notes.ini file, I have : SHARED_MAIL=2.
I want to simply disable the shared_mail option but I don't know how to
    make it.
I stopped the Notes Server, renamed mail1 and mail2.box, then I
    modified the notes.ini (SHARED_MAIL=1...I also tried SHARED_MAIL=0).
But when I start Notes again, mail1 and mail2 are recreated....and the
    problem persists.

    Any idea?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Regards.

Did you alter the server document which lists how many mail.box(es)
there are ? The number of box(es) will be created automatically
depending on the number indicated in the server document when the
server restarts, so just renaming them will have no effect.

    Thank you for the reply.

As I mentioned in my first post ... I am an utter noob with Notes. So I
don't know what 'server document' stands for ... How do I access it ?

    Regards.

Do you have the Administrator client ? see in the tab configuration
or if you just have the notes client, open the server addressbook
"names.nsf" on the server. And if you have enough rights on that
database you could see the configurations View. there you'll find all
the server documents for your server. It's the main configuration point
    in domino
