Establishing Lotus Notes v7 client as default mail client

We are in the process of migrating users from GroupWise 6.5 to Lotus
Notes 7. In our rollouts we have discovered a quirky issue. For the
most part, Notes becomes the default mail client, but in some cases,
when a user is working in an Office application and selects
"File-Send-to-mail recipient"or right clicks an Office file and chooses
send mail option, it is still trying to use GroupWise.

We've gone through IE and checked in Tools-Internet Options-Programs to
confirm that Notes is the default client. Where that has not been the
case we have made the changes. However, this is not working 100%
consistently. Sometimes it fixes the issue, other times not.

Does anyone know of a way of brute forcing Notes as the default mail
client. Is there a registry hack we can do?

    Let me know.....

I'm not sure about applying the registry hack but on my machine this:
seems to be where the default mail client is defined.

Thanks for this. I just checked my registry as you suggested and it is
listed as Notes. Problem still exists that when I right click an
office file and choose to send (or do this through office itself) it is
    still trying to use GroupWise.
